1. Private, unofficial station
The weather station feeding this site is a private installation provided by Casto Sistemi, a brand of Maicron S.r.l. It is not part of any official observation network, such as those of the Italian Air Force Meteorological Service, the National Civil Protection Department, the Civil Protection of the Sicilian Region or SIAS (Sicilian Agrometeorological Information Service). The data is not validated by any authority and has no official value.
2. Equipment and trademarks
The station uses Ecowitt equipment. The Ecowitt trademark and any other trademarks mentioned belong to their respective owners and are cited only to identify the instrument used. This site is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by the manufacturer. The same applies to MET Norway (Norwegian Meteorological Institute), credited as the forecast source under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence.
3. Reliability of readings
Weather station readings can be affected by many factors, including
- position and height of the sensors, closeness to buildings, walls, roofs, asphalt or vegetation;
- direct sunlight and ventilation of the radiation shield, which can alter temperature and humidity;
- obstacles that deflect or reduce the wind, and placement of the rain gauge relative to wind and roofs;
- calibration, ageing, dirt or failure of the sensors;
- power outages, Internet connection problems or outages of the platform collecting the data;
- automatic calculations, such as feels-like temperature, dew point and rainfall totals.
The station is installed in Contrada Madonna Marina - Zupparda, Noto. The values shown may therefore differ, even significantly, from actual conditions in other parts of Noto or from those measured by official stations.
4. Forecast and automatic weather report
Forecasts are estimates produced by numerical models and provided by MET Norway. By their nature they are uncertain and may change or turn out to be wrong. The report read by Luisa, the virtual assistant, is text generated automatically by software, combining station readings and forecasts, without any review by a meteorologist.
5. Use of the data
The information published must not be used as the only basis for decisions concerning the safety of people or property, health, sailing, flying, or agricultural, sporting or work activities involving risk. For warnings and alerts, consult the official bulletins of the Civil Protection of the Sicilian Region, the National Civil Protection Department and the Italian Air Force Meteorological Service.
6. Limitation of liability
The service is offered free of charge and as is, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness or continuity. To the extent permitted by law, and subject to Article 1229 of the Italian Civil Code, Maicron S.r.l. accepts no liability for direct or indirect damage arising from the use of the data, forecasts and weather report, or from errors, delays or interruptions of the service.
7. Ownership of content
Texts, graphics, the Luisa character and code of the site are owned by Maicron S.r.l. Station data may be quoted by citing the source "Casto Sistemi weather station, meteo.innoto.it". The photograph of Noto Cathedral is also the property of Maicron S.r.l. and may not be reused without permission.
